About Us
GGNA - Playing for Fun
GGNA is a club that is not all about serious training: we love it when our teams win, but we're just as enthusiastic about our girls that simply meet for fun.
GGNA was founded in 2008, when the demand for netball from IIL girls grew. With support from IIL, GGNA was formed, and opened its doors to all girls from the age of 7 - 18, who live in the Geneva Region, regardless of the school they go to. Since 2008 we have grown in strength and are one of the founding, corner stone clubs of Swiss Netball. Every year we send girls to The Swiss National U17 squads and, so far, GGNA have had the honour of providing many of the national captains and vice captains for the U17 teams since 2010.
See our Hall of Fame page for photos and where players go to after GGNA.
Coaching at GGNA
At GGNA we offer coaching to girls from the age of 7 to 18 in netball. The age groups are U10, U11, U13, U15 and U18 and each training group numbers up to 22 players. We also run an Academy for 13-18 year olds, designed as a stepping stone for ambitious players in the journey from a club player to playing higher level netball typically at national level. Historically GGNA has been a major contributor of players to the Swiss National squads .
Our coaching team comprises adult senior coaches supported by junior coaches who are selected from our current players. The Senior Coaches plan and lead each of the training sessions, and are supported by 2 junior coaches. If a session is large we sometimes add a second senior coach. We aim to have between 12 and 14 coaches at all times.
Many GGNA coaches have played for the Swiss National Squad either in the U17, U19 or Open Squads so they bring extensive experience from being on court players themselves and being coached at national level. Whilst this level of experience is a fantastic asset for the players we also use it to help train anyone interested in becoming a Senior coach.
We are always looking for new people to join our Senior coaching team and encourage anyone with a passion for coaching with or without netball experience to come forward and let us know if they are interested in joining the coaching team. We welcome new enquiries from coaches and recommendations of coaches who are looking for a new role or have just moved to Geneva.
